308C CR Excavator Hydraulic System – Pilot Valve (Implement) – Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the pilot valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Pilot Valve (Implement) – Remove”.
NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, “Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide” for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove rubber pedal (1) .
  1. Remove bolts (2) and remove pedal assembly (3) .
  1. Remove washers (4) and boot (5) .

  1. Remove set screw (6) and remove pin (11) .
  1. Remove pedal (7) .

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.

    Spring force will be released when covers are removed.

    Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.

  1. Carefully remove bolts (8) and cover (10) .
  1. Remove O-ring seals (9) from cover (10) .

  1. Remove pushrods (13) and O-ring seals (12) from cover (10) .
  1. Remove shims (14), seat (15), and spring (16) .
  1. Remove washer (17) and shims (18) .
  1. Remove spool (19) and spring (20) .
  1. Repeat Step 8 through Step 11 in order to disassemble the other spool assembly.
  1. Remove pins (21) from valve body (22) .
