NOTICE
Never bend the eyebolts and the brackets. Only load
the eyebolts and the brackets under tension. Remem-
ber that the capacity of an eyebolt is less as the angle
between the supporting members and the object be-
comes less than 90 degrees.
When it is necessary to remove a component at an
angle, only use a link bracket that is properly rated for
the weight.
Use a hoist to remove heavy components. Use an
adjustable lifting beam to lift the entire package.
Use an adjustable lifting beam to lift the engine. All
supporting members (chains and cables) should be
parallel to each other. The chains and cables should
be perpendicular to the top of the object that is being
lifted.
Some removals require lifting fixtures in order to
obtain proper balance. Lifting fixtures also help to
provide safety.
Lifting eyes are designed and installed for each
package. Alterations to the lifting eyes and/or the
package make the lifting eyes and the lifting fixtures
obsolete. If alterations are made, ensure that proper
lifting devices are provided. Consult your Caterpillar
dealer for information regarding fixtures for proper
lifting.
Lifting the Entire Package
Do NOT use the engine lifting ey es or the
generator lifting eyes to lift the entire package.
Lifting points (3) have been provided on the base
rails of the generator set for lifting the entire package.
However, lifting the engine and the generator together
requires special equipment and procedures. Consult
your Caterpillar dealer for information regarding
fixtures for proper lifting of your complete package.
Lifting the Engine Only
To remove the engine ONLY, use lifting eyes (2) that
are on the engine.
Lifting the Generator Only
Note: The control panel and the terminal will need to
be removed before attempting to lift the generator.
To remove the generator ONLY, use lifting eyes (1)
that are on the generator.
Lifting the Power Module
The power module may need to be lifted by a crane
from one position to another position. Two cranes are
recommended in order to lift the power module. This
will reduce unnecessary stress on the power module.
The recommended height for the hook is 6 m (20 ft).
