speed, while the steering and transmission control
is in forward.
4. Move the steering and transmission control to the
REVERSE position.
5. Roll thumb wheel (3H) to the desired REVERSE
speed, while the steering and transmission control
is in revers
e.
6. Move the steering and transmission control to

7. Press Spee
d Recall Button (3J) brieflywhilethe
machine is moving forward in order to return to
the preset speed.
8. Press Speed Recall Button (3J) brieflywhile
moving reverse and the machine will return to the
preset sp
eed.
No Preset to the Speed Values
Note: The operator must program the preset values
after each shutdown of the keyswitch circuit. Refer to
Steps 1 t
hrough 6 in order to preset the speed values.
If the values have not been programmed since the
last shu
tdown of the keyswitch circuit, pressing the
speed recall button will not result in any change in
the speed value for the corresponding direction.
Forward – If only the FORWARD preset value is
programmed since the last shutdown of the keyswitch
circu
it, the depressing of the button brieflypermits
only the FORWARD speed value to be changed to
the preset value.
Reverse – If only the REVERSE preset value is
programmed since the last shutdown of the keyswitch
circ
uit, the depressing of the button brieflypermits
only the REVERSE speed value to be changed to
the preset value.

Hor
n–Push down button (3K) in order to
activate the horn.
Decelerator/Brake Pedal (4)
Push decelerator/brake ped al (4) all the way
downward in order to apply the brakes or use the
br
akes to stop the machine. Use the brakes on a
downgrade in order to maintain a safe operating
mode. Release pedal (4) in order to allow the
ma
chine to move. Release pedal (4) in order to
increase ground speed.
The decelerato
r/brake pedal is configured through
ET or the gauge display. The decelerator/brake pedal
has the two following configurations: Transmission
Brake Only and
Transmission Brake and Engine
Deceleration.
Note: ET is th
e Electronic Technician service tool for
use with Caterpillar machines.
Transmissi
on Brake Only
Configure the decelerator/brake pedal as a
hydrostati
c braking in order to slow the machine
withthehydrostatictransmissiononly.Theengine
speed does not change when you press the
decelerat
or/brake pedal.
When pedal (4) is completely depressed beyond
the detent
spring, the parking brake will engage.
The gauge display (“Compact Instrument Cluster”)
can change the decelerator/brake pedal. so that the
engine ma
intains a constant speed when the pedal is
depressed.
Transmi
ssion Brake and Engine
Deceleration
Configur
e the decele rator/brake pedal so that the
hydrostatic braking and the engine deceleration are
done at the same time.
When the decelerator/brake pedal is pressed, the
engine speed will be reduced proportionally.
Note: Change the configuration of the
decelerator/brake pedal with the gauge display or
with C
aterpillar electronic technician (ET).
